This photo was taken by a U.S. Army Signal Corps photographer on 28 February 1945 near Frauwullesheim, Germany, after the First Infantry Division crossed the Roer River. It shows soldiers and vehicles on a rural road. The Signal Corps photo identication number is in the lower right.

The unit is identified as Company C, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, 1st U.S. Army.

Today in WW II: 9 Feb 1941 British Prime Minister Winston Churchill appeals for arms shipments from the US: "Give us the tools, and we will finish the job".  More 
9 Feb 1943 Allied forces capture Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands.
