This photo was taken during March 1990 by a NASA photographer to record the arrival of an SR-71A Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft at NASA's Ames-Dryden Flight Research Facility at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. The U.S.A.F. plane was retired from operational service and loaned to NASA for high-speed research programs.
