This photo was taken at Fort Knox, Kentucky in June of 1942. It clearly shows a young soldier in training, kneeling by an M3 halftrack, aiming his M1 Garand rifle while kneeling beside an armored halftrack. He is still equipped with the M1917 helmet since the new M-1 "Steel Pot" helmet had not yet been issued. Click here or click here for related photos.

There is an incredible amount of detail in this photo. The full size image shows details of the M1, the half-track, and the soldier's uniform.
