This photo from World War II shows American wounded on a French beach in the days following D-Day, Operation Overlord, 6 June 1944. Stretchers with casualties are being carried to a landing craft for evacuation to a hospital ship for further medical treatment. Beach activity and a field ambulance are also visible. Photo is dated 1944.
