This photo shows Lieutenant Mae Olson (left), of the United States Army Nurses Corps, as she takes the name of a wounded American soldier being placed aboard a hospital plane of a United States Army Air Force aerial evacuation unit removing casualties from Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands, November 1942. Army nurses care for wounded men in flight on the way to station hospitals.

A WC-54 Dodge field ambulance and jeep are in the background of the photo.

Lieutenant Olson's home town is Little Falls, MN.
