This poster was issued in 1944 by the War Food Administration to encourage food and metal conservation during World War II. At that time, home food preservation was often done with glass Mason jars, a process that avoided the use of metal cans.

The artist was Dick Williams.

19 May 1945 272 USAAF B-29 Superfortress bombers attack Hamamatsu, 120 miles (192 km) from Tokyo, as a secondary target after raid on Tachikawa aborted by weather.
