Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton 4x4 G506 Series

The Chevrolet G506 series of 1 1/2 ton 4x4 closed cab trucks were built by Chevrolet in large numbers during World War II.

All of the G506 series trucks were powered by the Chevrolet 235 cu. in. 83 hp. six cyl. engine mated to a four speed transmission and two speed transfer case. It had a wheelbase of 145 inches.

A Marine convoy is assembled with its armed escorts and communications van just outside the city limits of Tientsin, China, along the Tientsin-Pezping highway, July 1946.  Lead vehicle appears to be Chevrolet 1 1/2-ton 4x4 Panel Truck (G7105), followed by a jeep and other vehicles.
Napoleon Beach, Cherbourg, France, circa September 1944.  US Army 342nd General Engineer Service regiment demolished the German anti-tank wall, opening the beach for use by Quartermaster DUKW amphibious trucks landing cargo from offshore ships.  The railing to the left encloses the statue of Napoleon III on horseback that gives the beach its name. Vehicles present include DUKWs, a Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton 4x4 Truck Tractor (G7113) with semitrailer, several COE GMC Model AFKWX-353 Truck, 2 1/2-Ton, 6x6 (G508), and crawler cranes.
US Army trucks passing reviewing stand on Washington Avenue during parade which marked the second anniversary of the Transportation Corps, Hampton Roads, VA, 1 August 1944.  Vehicles appear to be a mix of 1 1/2-ton Chevrolet and CCKW 2 1/2-ton 6x6 GMC cargo trucks.  Lead truck is Chevrolet 1 1/2-ton 4x4 followed by CCKW 2 1/2-ton 6x6 and other vehicles.
