Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton 4x4 G506 Series

The Chevrolet G506 series of 1 1/2 ton 4x4 closed cab trucks were built by Chevrolet in large numbers during World War II.

All of the G506 series trucks were powered by the Chevrolet 235 cu. in. 83 hp. six cyl. engine mated to a four speed transmission and two speed transfer case. It had a wheelbase of 145 inches.

Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton 4x4 Cargo Truck (G7107, no winch), part of the G506 series of closed cab trucks built by Chevrolet in large numbers during World War II. The G7107 is the basic cargo truck of the G506 series, with a standard 9 foot bed, produced with cargo beds made of both wood and metal.

Napoleon Beach, Cherbourg, France, circa September 1944. US Army 342nd General Engineer Service regiment demolished the German anti-tank wall, opening the beach for use by Quartermaster DUKW amphibious trucks landing cargo from offshore ships. The railing to the left encloses the statue of Napoleon III on horseback that gives the beach its name. Vehicles present include DUKWs, a Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton 4x4 Truck Tractor (G7113) with semitrailer, several COE GMC Model AFKWX-353 Truck, 2 1/2-Ton, 6x6 (G508), and crawler cranes.
