M-103 Chassis, Trailer, 1 1/2 Ton, 2-Wheel

The M-103 Chassis, Trailer, 1 1/2 Ton, 2-Wheel (G-754) is a base for the M105 cargo trailer and for specialized equipment carriers such as power units, generators, field kitchens, bath units, laundry, machine shop, welding apparatus, water tanks, electronic equipment and other uses. The M103 was introduced in the 1950s as a base for trailers matched to the M-series trucks with 9:00x20 tires.

The M103A3 (introduced in 1977) was equipped with dual line air/hydraulic brakes, an improvement over the single line of earlier variants. A mechanical parking brake is provided along with an automatic emergency brake.

The manual for the M103 trailer chassis is TM 9-8226 (April 1955) which covers all the 1 1/2 ton two wheel trailers of the time. TM 9-8226 was replaced by TM 9-2330-213-14&P. The October 1990 version supersedes TM 9-2330-213-14&P dated 30 September 1985.

  • M103A2 (FSN 2330-049-8050) (generator trailers)
  • M103A3 (FSN 2330-141-8052) (used on M105A2)

  • M103AQ4 (FSN 2330-141-8051)
  • M103A4C (FSN 2330-542-2182)

When NSNs were introduced, the numbers had an added '00' or '01' after the '2330' for example: M103A3 trailer, NSN 2330-01-141-8052.
