M1083 FMTV 5 ton Cargo Truck
The M1083 and M1083A1 Medium Tactical Vehicles are the standard 5 ton cargo trucks in the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), providing tactical unit mobility and logistics for the U.S. Army and the other military services.

M-1083 or M1083A1 5 ton Medium Tactical Vehicle
The M-1083 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) 5 ton Medium Tactical Vehicle was produced in these variants:

- M-1083A1 W/O WN (NSN 2320-01-447-3890)
- M-1083A1 W/ WN (NSN 2320-01-447-3884)
The M-1083A1 variant, approved in 2000, features a more powerful diesel engine, a better transmission and brakes, added corrosion protection, computerized engine diagnostics, and beefier drive line engine/transmission/differential connection components. Other upgrades in the M-1083A1 include more durable seating material and cargo tarp, beefier door hinges, and reinforced sections that can be used as footholds to gain access to the cargo area.
