The M-818 Truck, Tractor, 5 Ton 6x6 is part of the G-908 (or M-809) series of 5 ton 6x6 trucks. Details of the history, model numbers, and configurations of the M809-series of trucks are on the linked page.

The M-818 Truck, Tractor has a towed load allowance of 37,500 lb.

Dataplate of an XM818 Truck, Tractor, 5 Ton 6x6 without winch.  The X prefix indicates that the truck was produced before formal standardization (type classification) of the M818 model in 1971.  The contract date on this dataplate is 1969.  The Federal Stock Number was converted to NSN 2320-00-050-8984 in 1975.  Photo:  MSG J. Durham
