M-918 Bituminous Distributor Truck

Truck Chassis, 56,000 GVWR, 6X6, Bituminous Distributor Truck, M918 is also called Truck, Bituminous 22 1/2 Ton, Distributor or Bituminous Distributor, Truck Mounted, 6X6, M918. As the name implies, the M918 carries a 1,500-gallon bituminous distributor equipped with a hydrostatically-driven bituminous pump and spray bar. M918 vehicles are authorized in Corps units, primarily the Construction and Combat Support Companies and the Combat Heavy Battalions.

Bituminous distributor trucks are used for other purposes, for example application of liquid ice removal solutions to highways.

The M918 NSN is 3895-01-028-4390. It was type classified Std. A in 1980.

The M918 shares the 400 bhp engine and semi-automatic 16/2 transmission with other AM General built M915 series vehicles.
