This is a 1940 poster produced by the United States Army. The artist was Thomas Woodburn. This poster was one of a series used to promote recruitment and re-enlistment in the Army.

The poster shows a line up of soldiers in uniforms that go from the present (World War II) back to colonial America. A female figure holds a laurel victory wreath with a backdrop of a rippling U.S. flag symbolizing the ideals of the United States: a desire for peace but a readiness to fight if necessary.
