This photo was taken at Fort Knox, Kentucky in June of 1942. It clearly shows a young soldier in training, aiming his M1 Garand rifle while kneeling beside an M3 halftrack. He is still equipped with the M1917 helmet since the new M-1 "Steel Pot" helmet had not yet been issued. Click here or click here for related photos.
