Marine with Remington M870 Shotgun

This U.S. Defense Department photo shows a Marine demonstrating the up ready position with a Remington M870 Shotgun. The photograph was taken 3 May 1989 at the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA.

In addition to the shotgun, the Marine is armed with a M9 Beretta 9mm Pistol in its holster on the pistol belt, dressed in camouflage Battle Dress Uniform with body armor, and wearing a Kevlar PASGT helmet. A plastic canteen is also attached to the pistol belt, in its carrier cover. A carrier for extra M9 Beretta magazines also can be seen on his belt.
