Bucyrus-Erie Model 22BM Crane, Shovel, Crawler Mounted, 12 1/2 Ton, 3/4 cu ydSuccessor to the World War II Crawler Cranes, the diesel engine Bucyrus-Erie 22BM was the military version of the very similar Bucyrus-Erie 22B crane. The 22BM had a standard 40 foot boom and 3/4 yard clamshell. The engine was a Caterpillar D318 with a pony starting engine, although later production used a Cummins JN-6-1 diesel. Other options included a dipper stick shovel, dragline, 60 foot crane boom, or pile driver. Bucyrus-Erie provided a Model 22BM for testing at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 4 April to 22 November 1968.
