M107 Trailer, Tank: Water, 1 1/2 Ton, 2-Wheel, 400 GallonThe M107 water trailers are based on the M102 Chassis, Trailer, used to transport, store and distribute drinking water in the field. The M107 water trailers were introduced in the 1950s, equipped with 9:00x20 tires to match the M211 2 1/2 ton truck and other cargo trucks. With the same tires, the combination truck and trailer would ride at the same height. The elliptic cross-section aluminium tank has a capacity of 400 US gallons (1,514 L). The trailer has a hand pump and a 25 foot (7.62 M) suction hose for filling. Fenders and extensions provide table surfaces when serving water. The M107 trailer may be completely submerged when fording when towed by a towing vehicle with an air supply. The M107A1 has a cover plate over the piping between the two welded metal tap boxes at the front of the tank. The M107A2 employs two hydraulic wheel cylinders for each wheel service brake. The M107 trailer has a rear support leg and hand pump unit, both eliminated on the M107A1 and M107A2.
