US Military M-811 Truck, Chassis, 5 Ton 6x6The M-811 Truck, Chassis, 5 Ton 6x6 is part of the G-908 (or M-809) series of 5 ton 6x6 trucks. The M-811 was a 5-ton 6x6 chassis used for mounting truck bodies and was converted for other military tasks. The M-811 is an extra long wheelbase (XLWB) version of the M-809 series chassis trucks and is 242 inches from the center of the front axle to the center of the rearmost axle. Available equipment options for this chassis include a 20x7 foot stake body. One of the missions of the M811 chassis was to carry a shop shelter, with nomenclature Shop Equipment, Organizational Repair, Truck Mounted (SEORTM). The SEORTM is referred to as "Bat Wing" because of its appearance when the side panels are opened. SEORTM is a self-contained machine shop, with lathes, drill presses, welders, valve grinding machine, milling machine, and other metal working tools, all powered by a generator driven by a shaft from the M811 PTO. SEORTM is NSN 4940-01-236-0166. SEORTM is also mounted on the M-944 Truck, Chassis, 5-ton, 6x6 and on a trailer. A second role for the M-811 Truck, Chassis, 5 Ton 6x6 was to mount the power plant for a Patriot Missile Fire Control Section. The M-811 truck carried a pair of 150-KW generator sets and towed an M353 3 1/2-ton, 600 gal. fuel trailer.
