WC53 Truck, 3/4 ton CarryallThe 3/4 ton series of Dodge WC trucks was introduced in late 1941, replacing the G505 1/2 ton trucks of the period 1939-1941. The WC-53 Carryall had an enclosed body with windows, intended for troop transport or light cargo duty. The WC53 was longer and heavier, with a 3/4 ton rating, but overall very similar to the WC-10 / WC-17 / WC-26 1/2 ton Dodge Carryall trucks.
WC-53 Truck, 3/4 ton, 4x4 Dodge Carryall (G502)The general specifications of the WC-53 Truck, 3/4 ton, 4x4 Dodge Carryall (G502) were the same as the WC-51 / WC-52 3/4 ton 4x4 Dodge weapons carriers but with a longer wheelbase and with a closed cab and body. The rooftop of the WC-53 Carryall body was open, fitted with a canvas covered panel, as can be seen in the top photo and the production photo below. Between 1942 and 1945, 8,400 WC-53s were built for U.S. use and shipment to allies. Find additional photos and hi-res versions of the WC-53 3/4 ton Carryall at the Olive-Drab Military Mashup.
