The Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) family of multiservice radios includes airborne units for communication with ground forces (air to ground) and other airborne assets (air to air) or with Navy or Marine components aboard ship (air to afloat).

AN/ARC-201 Airborne SINCGARS

AN/ARC-201 (various suffix models) consists of the RT-1476C, RT-1477C, RT-1478C, C-11466A, CV-3885 and associated components. These radios replaced all VHF/FM radios in Army rotary wing aircraft, including AN/ARC-114, AN/ARC-131, and the AN/ARC-186 (FM mode only)

AN/ARC-210 Airborne SINCGARS

Navy units use the AN/ARC-210 radio. The AN/ARC-210 Multimode Integrated Communications System provides 2-way multimode voice and data communications over the 30-400 MHz frequency range in either normal, secure or jam-resistant modes via line-of-sight (LOS) or satellite communications (SATCOM) links. The ARC-210 family of equipment is made up of several variants of the receiver-transmitter, each providing a specific combination of functionality to meet user platform requirements. The photo to the left shows the RT-1794(C) receiver-transmitter, the principal component of one version of the AN/ARC-210.

AN/ARC-222 Airborne SINCGARS

The Air Force Airborne Single-channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) compatible radio (AN/ARC-222) operates SC FM and FH in the 30.000 to 87.975 MHz range and SC amplitude modulation (AM) in the 108.000 to 151.975 MHz frequency range (108.000 to 115.975 receive only). It interfaces with the KY-58 to achieve a COMSEC capability. The airborne radio interfaces with the AN/PSC-2-digital communications terminal (DCT-2) and the improved data modem (IDM) to pass data. Air Force ground units, primarily tactical air control parties (TACPs) and combat control teams (CCTs), employ the Army SINCGARS AN/VRC-89A/90A/91A (RT-1523 (ICOM) radio). The modular control equipment (MCE) facilities located at the control reporting centers (CRCs), control reporting element (CRE), and forward air control party (FACP) utilize the RT-1439 (non-ICOM) radios and interface with external COMSEC devices (KY-58). AN/ARC-222 radios are form-fit replacements for the AN/ARC-186 used before SINCGARS.
