Military ATVs & Small 4x4s

As military platforms like the HMMWV have gained weight to accomodate electronic shelters, weapons systems, and armor a gap opened up at the low end. Tasks that the 1/4 ton jeeps used to perform were overkill for a HMMWV. In tactical situations, the CUCV trucks were not rugged enough or lacked serious off-road capability. Adaptations of civilian All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and other small 4x4s fill that gap.
