Other Military Jeeps and Trailers

Most military vehicles are equipped for towing a trailer, including artillery, cargo trailers, and specialized equipment like generators, water purification systems, radar or engineering units mounted on trailers. The typical U.S. system has a standard lunette ring on the trailer that mates to the pintel hook on the rear of the vehicle. Standard electrical connections allow any trailer to hook to any towing vehicle. Trailers and vehicles are weight rated to match the capacity. Military publications will specify exactly which trailers are to be towed by what.

Postal Jeep web site celebrates the DJ-5 jeep once seen everywhere in the US delivering the mail. What does this have to do with Military Vehicles? The DJ-5 chassis can accept M-151 drive train components (with modifications) and it is possible to create an M-151 look-alike which is street-legal by starting with a DJ-5. This hybrid also avoids the problems of registering an M-151 since it is built on your legal DJ-5.
