ESS Interchangeable Component Eyeshield (ICE) 2 Spectacle System

The ESS ICE-2 spectacles are a lightweight (1.2 ounces) eye protection system that offers high-ballistic impact resistance, unrestricted field of view, and interchangeable lenses for effective eye protection in any light condition. A set of two 2.4mm high-impact polycarbonate lenses (clear and smoke gray) are provided with the system. The ICE-2 can accommodate an optional prescription insert if required. The prescription carrier for the ICE 2 has an adapter when will make it compatible with the ESS Profile NVG. The ESS ICE-2 spectacles have adjustable temples that can be made longer or shorter, and have malleable ear bends that custom fit to any user. ESS ICE 2 Spectacles provide excellent ballistic protection, but do not provide eye protection from laser hazards. If a mission requires laser eye protection, the soldier must wear the Sun-Wind-Dust Goggles (SWDG), Ballistic-Laser Protective Spectacles (B-LPS), or Special Protective Eyewear Cylindrical System (SPECS) (with laser lenses).
